Catholic ES Cells
The front page of the Wall Street Journal has an interesting article about the origins of an embryonic stem cell policy that the Bush Administration may offer to counter the recent stem cell bill presented to him by the Congress. The byline of the article is: "How Donald Landry reconciled science with religion and got the attention of Washington." This is an interesting work-around to a flawed policy, but identifies what can happen when smart people work honestly to reconcile their personal beliefs with a commitment to science. I have to admit that I didn't pay much attention to the original scientific articles, so want to read all of the background sources on this before commenting further.
